CAREER IN SPORTS
active in Enduro racing from 1981 until the beginning of 1990. Before that active in football, athletics, and ninepins.

Jens was inspired by the traditional Enduro race “Rund um Zschopau”, which passed by his house and made him dream of emulating these sportsmen.

1981 “Best of GDR” in the 250cc category, riding for MC MZ Zschopau
From 1982 on, the technical equipment for the 250cc category was provided by the sports department of the MZ factory

1982 Six Days in the CSSR
From 1985 Member of the MZ factory team
1985 Junior Team World Champion
1986 Runner-up in the Junior Team World Championships
1987 Changed to 500 cc category
1987 First entire season in Individual European Championships
1987 Rank 4 at EC race in the CSSR. This was the last time that the title of “Fastest rider in the Overall” was won on a MZ

1987 First time at the Six Days as member of the Trophy Team. Victory with the Trophy Team
1989 3rd place in the European Championships (individual)
1987 and 1988 GDR Champion in the “Spezialtechnik” category, four times winner at the “Cup for Peace and Friendship” (individual)
