is the successor
of the legendary motorsports club, which has shaped
Enduro racing in the fifties in an important way.
The
successful revival of this sport started in the early
nineties in an interesting manner.
Starting 1994
the EMC Witzschdorf had organized an Enduro event, which
in the beginning was open only to stock motorcycles.
From 1996 until 1998 the “November Enduro” developed
and finally gained the status of a German Championships’ race.
The event grew and grew: a development that called for
a broader organisational base. Finally the MSC Rund um
Zschopau was founded. The club served as a roof for the
interests and members of the five regional motorsports
clubs. In the years 1999 to 2003 the event “Rund
um Zschopau” drew an audience of 50,000 spectators
each year. All top riders like Alfie Cox, Gio’ Sala,
Kari Tiainen, Juha Salminen, and many others are and
have been regular guests and participants for many years.
This year the highest international ruling body for
motorcycling racing, the FIM, has awarded the finals
of the Individual Enduro World Championships to Zschopau
in Saxony.
Germany receives this honor after 14 years of absence
from hosting international competition. This decision
should lead to an extraordinary offroad event.
